This class will cover the art and science of essential oils, in a nutshell, and talk about practical, safe ways to use essential oils for you and your family’s care. Essential oils and the practical use of them, deemed “aromatherapy”, have gotten quite popular in recent years. Because of the concentration and strength of essential oils and their many uses, it is important to know how to use them safely, and also to use them as effectively as possible for what you’re using them for. You could say that essential oils are one form of herbal medicine, and they are the most concentrated form of herbal extracts, so they have potential to do great good, but they also can do harm if not used appropriately. You will learn when and how to best use essential oils for health, and when an herbal tincture, tea, or other form of herbal medicine may be more appropriate. We will be smelling many essential oils in this class and learning many blends and recipes. This will be a good class to learn to make some effective blends to give as gifts – in massage oils, roll-ons, bath blends, etc.
